Kelley/Kelly Census Information

This blog contains extracted census information from South Carolina and Georgia. This information was extracted and compiled by Bill Lester wmlest@bellsouth.net and Leslie Kelley kelleyl@otelco.net. Mr. Kelley can also be reached by phone at 205.274.0170, fax: 205.274.4283, cell 205.625.7088, or mail: 12 Crestwood Dr. Oneonta, AL 35121.

Mr. Kelley and Mr. Lester have published this information to help others trace their ancestors through South Carolina and Georgia. There sure are a lot of Kelleys that did not leave a good paper trail.

Mr. Kelley desperately needs information on his great-great grandmother Elizabeth Kelley (need maiden name) and __________ Kelley (need given name)

The 1850 Paulding County Census (986 Dist.), GA census lists Elizabeth Kelley, widow age 35 and her children: Sarah age 17; Allen, 15; Nancy, 12; Benny(Berry), 7; Jacob, 6; and Alfred, 4.

Elizabeth was listed in the 1860 Haralson County census (1st dist. Buchanan), GA with children: Allen, Benny(Berry), Jacob, and Alfred.

Sarah married T. R. Sheats in Paulding County, GA on June 21, 1857

Allen married Elizabeth McGaha in Haralson County, GA on 10/27/1861. They had children Joseph, Mary A., Jacob A., Susan E., Jonathan Cecil, and Lucinda. Allen died 3/10/1879

Alfred's (A.M) confederate army discharge states that he was born in Jasper Co., GA in 1846 or 1847.

Benjamin's (Berry) pension application dated 1907 states he was born in Gwinnett Co., GA in about 1841-1843.

Jacob's confederate army discharge states he was born in Gwinnette Co., GA around 1842-1844.

Elizabeth's husband not listed. Mortality schedule GA, 1849-1850. Elizabeth's husband apparently died in between 1845-1849.

Most of Elizabeth's descendants lived in Floyd, Haralson, Polk, and Paulding counties and some still do. I have hit a brick wall and have not been able to get over it, under it, or around it. If you have and information or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I would pay for all postage, copies, etc.
